Tournament Information
All games are 30 minutes in length consisting of two 15-minute periods with a 5 minute break in between.
Ice rink surface size for all divisions will be approx. 75’ x 150 ’.  There will be 10 rinks for tournament play. There are no boards, only snow banks, to define the rink.
Team registration form must have four players on the roster.  Games are 4-on-4 format with no goalies.  Nets are reduced in size; standard opening of the nets is 5 feet wide by 10 inches high.  There are no overtime periods in round robin play.  Playoff ties will result in three on three for 3 minutes.  Team with most goals will win.  There is no sudden death.  If tie remains after the 3 minutes overtime period, game will proceed with no time limit, and first team to score will be declared the winner.

Round robin tie breaking procedures to determine the higher positioned team in the standings will be as follows:

  1.  The team with the best win/loss record in the games between the teams involved.
  2.  The team with the greatest point spread between the teams involved.
       (points/goals for,minus points/goals against).
  3.  The team with the greatest positive point spread (ie. points/goals for, minus points/goals
against) in the games played between them and the team in the next highest position in the
standings.  (ie. If still tied for second, would use games played against team in the fourth
       positions.  Continue sequentially.)
  4.  If a tie still persists, a coin toss determines the higher ranked team.

There are no officials in pond hockey.  Our tournament is based on fair play and respect of others.  Each rink will have a rink monitor who will be in charge of timing and scoring.  Winning teams have 15 minutes to report the score to results center or otherwise the game will be treated as a loss for both teams.  Teams are tasked with resolving differences.  If a resolution cannot be reached, rink monitor decisions are final and any abuse by players, parents or spectators will result in ejection from the tournament site.
Tournament Rules
All players must wear CAHA certified helmets.  Skates, elbow pads and shin pads are mandatory.
    1. Raising the puck over this height will result in the puck being awarded to the opposing team.  (Change of possession where the infraction occurred).  There are no officials, fairplay by all participants will prevail in determining this rule.
    2. No slap shots.  Stick blades must remain on the ice during play.
    3. There will not be any off-sides or icing calls.
    4. Goals must be scored from the offensive side of centre ice.
    5. No player can fall or lay on the ice in an effort to protect the goal area. (Goaltending)
    6. Aside from the opening face-off, teams will be required to give their opponents half ice after a goal, or change of possession will take place.  After each goal, the team on defense must wait for the opposition to crossover half to resume play of the game.
    7. Pucks shot over the snow banks will result in the opposition gaining possession at the area of infraction.  Defenders must give the in-bounding team 2 sticks lengths to resume play.  Extra pucks will be available at each rink to help with keeping the game on time.
    8. All infractions such as tripping, hooking, slashing, and body contact and elbowing will result in a change of puck possession.
    9. All major infractions such as fighting, swearing, intent to injure, and abuse will automatically result in ejection of that player/players immediately from the tournament and will result in no refund of entry fee.
